I both liked and didn’t like this. I liked Bast’s day of riddles and questions and favors and the storyline with Rike. I didn’t like the portion with him and the 2 girls. It just felt a little icky.
But it did remind me that I really freaking want the third book!

Bast was as compelling as ever, with no stakes I’d say it belongs to ‘slice of life’ fantasy and it does that well. Solid and the voice is consistent throughout, finished this in about half a day without losing interest.
