I'm gobsmacked. What a beautifully heart breaking book. Definitely one of my favourites. Not many things can make me sob like that but also love like that. Truly touching.

This book was soul crushing, empty my tissue box tear-jerking and contains a love story that felt more real than anything else. Jameson and Scarlett’s story was powerful and touched my heart so much. Along with their love story, we also got an amazing story of sisterly love between Scarlett and Constance woven in that was just as poignant as the romantic one. Set during WWII, Scarlett and Jameson fall in love with each other and find joy together. Both loving and getting to feel the once in a generation, lightning in a bottle love that I think everyone looks for, but few find. Their story makes this whole book shine. The added bonus of seeing the love and bond between Scarlett and Constance as two sisters who are nearly inseparable and who both give each their best, weaves through and ultimately shines bright.

The ending of Scarlett and Jameson’s story was beautifully done, both the real life one, and the one that is written for them.

Easily a 5 * read except for the second love story that is told. The one between Georgia and Noah pales in comparison, it feels rushed and put in as a filler that is too convenient. Every time I had to read about them I rushed and wanted to get to Scarlett and Jameson. It’s probably bad, but even the story of (BIG SPOILER DONT CLICK UNLESS YOU READ THE HOOK)
Constance and Brian, as briefly mentioned as it was, I think it was better.

To love like what Scarlett found, that’s what I want to find too.

I did not expect to love this story as much as I did. Romance novels are not normally the ones with a twist so surprising that you actually need to put the book down and walk away for a minute, but that's exactly what Rebecca does here.

The past and present are weaved together brilliantly all throughout this story and when you do finally see the big reveal, you realize that the breadcrumbs have been there all along.

Noah and Georgia. Scarlett and Jameson. Constance and Edward. You'll fall in love with these characters over and over and over again. With each passing page and chapter you realize that life is complicated, but love? Love can change everything.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Full review to come but in the mean time..... HOLLY CRAP this was perfect!!

I started this book around 11am on Wednesday & it’s now 3am Thursday morning, I’ve spent the last 2 1/2 hours crying on & off as I read, absolutely glued to my iPad.

I could not put it down.

I have never read a book like this before. I have adored every book Rebecca Yarros has ever written, and every time I read a new release I think to myself “there is no way she can possibly top this one, it’s just not possible. Nothing can be better than this.” And then she does!

I went through such a roller coaster of emotions with this book. I even teared up at one point before anything sad had happened purely bc I was anticipating the sad thing happening. And I rarely cry in books!

Now I’m going to try to get some sleep & then figure out how to get all my thoughts together enough to write a review that will do this phenomenal novel justice.
