Wonderful book depicting the life of a house. The reader learns about what each part of the house was before it became a building. The author is an architect and explains the process in a beautiful way. The illustrations are lush and dream like in their quality and lends a softness and cozy element to the story.

I think I like the idea of this book, but reading it felt a little dull. It is gorgeous though.

Sweet book with some nice touches (like the cat prints) As a former science teacher, I liked the background this books gives. A class could create, "This school, once." I wish some of the pages had been a little less sparse.

A simple story of what parts make up a house and where they came from. I thoroughly enjoyed the artwork! Also simple, but very effective, with some fun little animals.

There are also a couple of interactive pages, which I generally enjoy in children's books.

Beautiful book that explores the topic of what each part of a house was "before."

June 2017 - lovely and atmospheric, but maybe in a way that adults will appreciate more than kids. Ben enjoyed following the animals that reappear throughout the book, but didn't quite get the concept. He kept wanting to know who lived in the tree whenever the tree was shown with a door.
