This was a cute pair of books.  I liked Divine rivals a bit better than this one.  However, it was enjoyable to read a series that is all wrapped up and I don't have to wait on a cliff hanger for the next book to come out.

A disappointing follow up to the very entertaining Divine Rivals. Ruthless Vows was missing the heart that Divine Rivals gave us. The story was choppy, didn't progress organically, and too instructional. If I hadn't been so committed to finishing the series, I would've put it down in the first third. Ross doesn't give us enough of the love and chemistry that pulled us into the story to start with and we lose some favorite characters off stage, which feels like an unworthy ending.

Maybe I'm too old, maybe I shouldn't have read something else entirely between reading this book and divine rivals... Whatever it is: I liked the first, but not the second.

I feel like many parts of the story don't make sense - and it's honestly not worth my time to list them. Pace also felt off: rushing through things that could have been elaborated on, and takes eons for other parts.

Just... Not for me.

A lovely followup to Divine Rivals with a stunner of an ending, I think I liked this book two slightly more than the first. There was a moment when I thought it might just be a rehashing of the first book thanks to some memory loss, but then it course-corrected and became very much its own story. Characters we loved were developed more fully and we met some new faces along the way (Tobias!). A beautiful love story that defies odds through resilience, perseverance, and sacrifice.
