I had some slumps getting through this book, but in the end thought highly of it. I liked Detective Inspector Ambrose Patterson and also the slang of the culture(s) he is in: police, black, British, Strawbery Fields, boxing, TV host stars. It was not a book I'd normally pick up for myself, but the fact that there were lesbian characters drew me in.
