Cady lives in a small town in the fingerlakes and finally agrees to celebrate her birthday because a few years prior the love of her life went missing on her birthday. Her birthday ends in tragedy when her best friend is murdered. There is a HUGE twist at the end when the killer is discovered. There are hints throughout the book that softens the blow. It makes the reader feel really really really sorry for poor Cady and all that she has been through these past few years in her life.
