dolorsitamet's review against another edition
3.0
I liked the format of the book, dividing his works into decades. I liked some of the poems - especially some of the shorter and abstract ones. Hughes isn't one of my favorite poets - having said that, he's not intolerable either. I understand his works were significant in historical context and he connected with the common person, writing in dialect. I prefer the romanticized and elevated, I suppose. Also, I think reading the selected poems would have been sufficient - this way, things begin to sound repetitive.
