i didn't realize this was a sequel LMAO
so my biggest critique of the book was that it was a bit hard to follow in the beginning.....i guess that's on me.
absolutely loved the world-building and the characters. gripping, emotional.

Great ending to this duology, apart from a couple of (what I thought) were pretty big plot holes:

From the moment the group decided that Fie should pretend to be Lady Sarkar, I was yelling "But Tavin can read true castes by touch!! It won't work!!" And it didn't. But why didn't any of them remember that when it was very explicitly described when Tavin discovered who Khoda really was??
Also - Fie yelled about the Sarkar child being dead in front of Tavin (and Geremir) but then decides to assume that girl's appearance? I couldn't get past these two very obvious reasons why their plan wouldn't work.
