The writing/dialogue in the first handful of chapters felt clunky to me, but then it got better! Definitely a sloooow burn with decent spice. 3-4 ⭐️, rounded up to a full 4.

I love that a chunk of time passed where Rosie and Lucas stayed separated after he went back to Spain, and I wish her time alone was explored a little more. I also felt the plot line of Olly/the bouncer was unnecessary, because literally nothing came of it. I don’t think it impacted the main plot at all other than for the purpose of interrupting Rosie and Lucas.

Trope: "experimental" (not fake) dating

For the entire 1st third of the book, I was both frustrated and disappointed because it felt a little too much like "high-school-girl-unrequited crush" due to Rosie's monotonous internal dialogue and mooning over Lucas, whom she had stalked online before actually meeting. We didn't hear much from Lucas up until this point to know if he felt the same. The narrator's pitch also contributed to the me feeling like I was listening to an immature woman and not someone with adult challenges to face.

Considering how strongly I disliked the first 33% of the book because of its one-sidedness, I think the remainder of the book redeemed the romance for me. Once we got more from both sides of the romance, the story developed beautifully.

I think the male narrator was brilliant. He was clearly a native Spanish speaker, but he also struck the right tone with each section he performed. I actually enjoyed the tone he used for Rosie more that the female narrator's Rosie. For the female narrator, I enjoyed the tone (both in pitch and feeling) she used for Lina more than the one she used for Rosie.

I think the appearances of the characters from [b:The Spanish Love Deception|54189398|The Spanish Love Deception (Spanish Love Deception, #1)|Elena Armas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1610900883l/54189398._SY75_.jpg|84555384] (book 1) were well-written and didn't detract from Rosie and Lucas' romance nor did Lina and Aaron's parts feel like solely convenient plot tools.

My favourite part of this book was the record shop scene. I think that was the sweetest and most memorable part of this book for me. In fact, all the romance surrounding the dates were saccharine, in the best way. Yes, there were steamy bits, and they were appropriate and placed well.

I'm giving this book 4-stars because I liked it, but I don't feel the need to tell everyone I know to read it. Again, considering how strongly I disliked the first third of the book, I think the author did a great job with this novel for me to even come to 4 stars by the end.

I'm excited to see whose story the author [a:Elena Armas|20669618|Elena Armas|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1605032812p2/20669618.jpg] writes next. Will Rosie's brother get a story? Will she continue Rosie's dad's? I'll definitely be on the look out.

Rosie Graham, quits her engineering job to become a full time romance writer. After her apartment's ceiling collapses, she ends up accidentally staying with her friend's cousin, Lucas, who proposes an experiment to help her find inspiration to meet her book deadline.

Oh my gosh thank freaking god if anyone has read this book, please contact me so I can rant. Would rather read Beowulf than this book.

i needed a book that make me giggle and kick my feet to bring me out of my reading slump and boy was this the one, objectively a perfectly timed romance novel, every important beat hit at the perfect time to have maximum impact for the reader, also lucas :)

Another slow burn, forced proximity cohabitation, slow burn from Elena Armas and I'm not mad about it. The whole social media stalking didn't really make sense to me for how little it came into the story but overall solid and fun.
