Scarlet and her sister Tella have been invited away from their home by the mysterious Master Legend, who runs a magical carnival of sorts. The only problem is their father will never let them go and Scarlet's wedding is 2 days after Caraval ends. But when Scarlet informs Tella of the tickets Tella takes matters into her own hands with the help of a sailor, Julian.

Once on the island Tella becomes the centerpiece of the game and it is up to Scarlet to save her before anyone else can, because who know what will happen to her if someone else gets to her first.

This book has it all from action to adventure, mystery and suspense. There is even a dash of romance thrown in just for a bit of fun. The book will keep you spinning and the pages will fly by leaving you wondering where the time has gone. Don't start this book until you are prepared to be able to get lost in this world until the stories reaches its close.

Like stepping right into a game! I loved this book, it’s just the right amount of fantasy without being so over the top. Beautifully written and enchanting.

I loved the world and at first the characters, but by the end, I had such mixed feelings about the protagonist and the rest of the cast that I finished it feeling pretty ho hum.
