Viihdyttävä, mielenkiintoinen, nappaava. Meno Nälkäpelin tyyliin veristä, porukkaa lahdataan aikamoiseen tahtiin. Osa hahmoista (=Christopher) ärsyttäviä. Arvoituksia en taida lähteä ratkomaan, mutta seuraan mielenkiinnolla mitä tuleman pitää.

I know this book is supposed to be a puzzle and there are probably many clues in the all the dull writing, but that is exactly what it is, dull, under researched and full of silly figures.

Who cares that it will take me 3 min and 22 seconds to write this bad review? we don't need to have all the figures continuously extrapolated into the nth degree but that is what the author did which made the book annoying to read, If these were clues to the puzzle the were distracting and the story is very shallow.

The places may be well researched but the back story is terrible. Confusing issues such as x-ray imaging versus metal detection shows that the author has no real idea of the greater scheme of things and has written this like an adolescent essay for a writing class.

Simply the most original, astounding book I have read in a long time. I'll be honest and say that I did doubt it in the beginning, thinking it would just be another Hunger Games, but it is completely different. It left me with more and more questions, the urge to solve the puzzle, kept me up all night. The way it was written was very refreshing. All in all, it is simply a fascinating read. I need more of it.

DNF at pg. 249 (52%)

I couldn't do it. I thought I would be able to finish this, but I literally have no motivation to. I was not invested in the story at all...

I feel bad DNF this but I just did not want to force myself to get through it.

Twelve teenagers from all over the world, who have been training their whole lives to kill each other in Endgame, battle it out in a world-crossing adventure. It’s like Battle Royale, James Bond (they have zero hindrances in regards to money, weapons technology, fake IDs, or being stopped by guys with guns), and Hunger Games, + alien overlords. Though I like the idea of how this book pairs clues and secret messages with internet adventures that gives clever readers the chance at winning real-life gold, the story for the story’s sake is predictable and poorly executed.

And don’t get me started on the theme of, “Yay for diversity, we have characters from all over the world! … in order to determine WHOSE RACE IS THE BEST.” I’m crossing my fingers that the characters stop fighting under this purpose in future books.

(PS I got a copy of this from Netgalley, but that obviously didn't change my opinion at all)

This book is boring. This world is boring. The sentences are boring. Everything is boring. After reading the prologue and the first paragraph.

Sorry was that a sentence fragment because that's how this book is written.

DNf'd after the first 3 pages, I flipped through it and nothing was worthy.

Edit: Just to note, I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review prior to the release date of the book.

endgame the calling follows thirteen different characters. Endgame is set in a world where the things that made us told the first humans to have all 12 lines always have a player ready for endgame. The calling takes place when endgame begins and follows all 12 players of endgame who are fighting to save their lines from the end. The 13th character I will not say who because that would be a spoiler gets dragged into endgame early on.
I thought this book was different then anything then I have ever read and it was really refreshing. For having SO many characters all of them are different. There are some that were a little scary to me well a LOT scary to me but thats what made the book so interesting is we aren't just reading about the heroes who want to save humanity but about the people who just want to save themselves. I would say that if you are looking for something new a different give this a go I doubt you'll be sorry.

Polecam!

*This might be a little spoilery but not really?? I swear I won't say anything concrete, but still, read with caution*
So this wasn't as terrible as I was expecting. It was actually quite enjoyable, it kept me interested and I definitely could not stop reading from the middle of the book onwards. However, I had some problems with it.
First of all, although the idea for this story is very good, I feel like it wasn't well developed. This book was extremely marketed, and the main focus was exactly the marketing aspect of it, the puzzle readers can solve, the prize they can win. I just wanted to read a good story, so that was a little annoying. Secondly, why must there always be a love triangle? It was solved at the end of the book, praise the lord, but still, why? And what was that romantic subplot???? I swear I've read it somewhere else, like, I don't know, The Hunger Games, maybe. I might be exaggerating slightly, but I did get the whole Peeta/Katniss "starcrossed lovers" feel while the relationship between the two "main characters" in Endgame developed. And finally, the characters. There were so many POVs, and they were usually so rushed, that I didn't get a chance to actually know any of the characters, try to connect to them, feel for them, empathize with them. So when a character died, I was just "meh".
Overall this was a pretty decent book. It did leave me wanting to read the sequel, which I will try to do soon and hopefully that one will develop the story and the characters a whole lot more. Hopefully.
