This is NOT a book for everybody. It has the language of the 18th century AND elaborate language of centuries before, plus a lot of references to obscure romances. However, once you tread through that, it is one of the funniest, relatable, dramatic, and sweet books of all that. It was difficult to read, but the ending left my little heart very happy and in the most agreeable of manners *wink wink*. It has the intrigue of a soap opera but the reason and structure only the enlightenment can give and it is just so much fun. If you venture to read it, I'd recommend reading some chapters at a time to enjoy it enough but not succumb to frustration.
