Quite possibly the best of the series!

There's something inexplicably awesome about diving into the world of two very broken people, both with an absurd amount of family issues, their own unique quirks, and a very high sex drive. But Kate Canterbury pulls it off with the story of Matt and Tiel. I'll be reading this one multiple times! Can't wait for the next one!

I liked the first two books a lot along with their main characters, but so far this one is my favorite. I think it’s Sam, with his protective shield and soft insides, that had me rooting the hardest. I figured the titular “Necessary Restorations” were for him alone, but the outwardly bubbly and bohemian Tiel is in need of her own restorations and the pair of them had me on the hook.

It was pleasant to read that this relationship started out as friends rather than the more taboo client/provider or boss/apprentice dynamics of the previous two stories. I was ready for something different. It wasn’t exactly slow burn, but it certainly wasn’t straight into the bedroom with these two. I could’ve even stood a little more pining and tension building, but I will say that this book made up for the background and development that the other two lacked.

I really, really wish that someone would get these folks (back) into therapy. I’m not just talking about Sam and Tiel, but the entire Walsh bunch. This book was the perfect opportunity to develop that mental health rep that was barely grazed with Sam and which could have massively benefited Tiel. From book one we get the backstory about the Walsh parents and lordy! Why isn’t there more therapizing going on? It’s a fairy tale to think that issues that deep could be worked out on their own.

I don’t think I’ve sufficiently expressed my adoration for Christian Fox’s voice work. He’s an absolute dream in this series. Lucy Rivers is good, and this was probably her best of the three so far.

I’m having fun meeting side characters who I know will have their own stories. And if I’m not mistaken, one of them is coming up next!

DNF (put it down and forgot about it)

Haven't picked this up since 2017 when I originally opened it. Terrible, I know. LOL but I remember liking this series so maybe I'll start it over at some point and finally finish this one. Until then..

I loved this story. It was a great romantic read. You have to very real very flawed characters who were not perfect. They didn't have perfect childhoods, they don't have perfect jobs, they don't have perfect health! I love when the characters seem more human, it makes the story more believable and more likeable. This was a sexy fun story of slipping from friendship into a nebulous sexy flirty friendship zone into more. The question comes how will a manwhore who doesn't like personal contact and has many many issues and a girl who has serious trust and abandonment issues deal with it?
