Odd and unusual writing, but brilliantly written in a very modern, yet understandable style. I rarely read any sort of horror, but Lovecraft is amazing at bringing the read into the story, even in a short amount of time.

It is very interesting to read science-fiction-esque writing, written long before the "main" body of science fiction writers.

I was absolutely not prepared for the amount of racism that oozed from this book. And that's coming from someone who's read a lot of classics. Wow. Disgusting.

Bigotry aside, his formula of isolating one human so that they come face to face with an unspeakable cosmic horror in an uneasy setting gets um, bland after a very short while.

This man had a tiny brain.
