Creepy thriller involving child kidnapping that perhaps could spread decades.

I liked it but I won't remember it. It was mostly realistic except for one stupid thing.
Spoilerhow would Tom not know where his wife grew up? stupidly unrealistic for him to magically pick the same town without knowing. dumb.

4.5 only because i’m reluctant to give books 5 stars especially when i haven’t read many from the genre before. However, this book was simply brilliant. I may be biased because the last book i read was painfully slow and had a dissatisfying ending, but i thought it was so fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. there was development after development, much of which i didn’t anticipate, so i thoroughly enjoyed. i’d highly recommend and would definitely read more from North in future!

i really wanted to push through this book, but i couldn’t )):

i was really enjoying it, but i couldn’t get past the imaginary friend knowing so much. this book is a thriller/mystery/suspense book so i get that that could be a thing in this books. but i couldn’t get it through my brain that the imaginary friend knew about this whisper man.

which sucks i felt that way because i think this would’ve been a five star read!! but im going to put this on a “try again” reading shelf. i might not be in the mindset for this book right now

I really should stop getting book advice from Tiktok. I heard so much about this book and the premise seemed great. This book did not do it for me though. People warned me it was so creepy and that it was the perfect thriller. I actually found it rather slow and not very creepy at all. The only creepy part was the voices that the narrator did so props to him. I often found my mind wandering because of how slow this book is and how long it took to get down to what was really happening. I think this book was not for me.
