I love this story. You never really see pixies in novels, and when you do you don't expect them to be evil! But that's what makes this series so amazing! Yes, I am a fan of Nick, but I love Astley a little bit more. The whole pixie king thing going for him makes me pick him over Nick and his were abilities any day. Zara is the kind of character that needs to be slapped, but in this book she starts to come a long way from her whining personality and begins to step into herself as an actual female lead. I love the world, love the fact that the characters aren't always completely human, and I love the mythology that's interwoven within the story.

Better than the first. The mythology is intriguing, the characters are strong, and the story engaging with thankfully far fewer phobia lists.
(Note: The narrator for the audiobook was atrocious, throwing in random Boston accents, I couldn't even finish the first chapter.)

This book, like the first in the series, was okay. Not terrible, but not terrific either. It's funny but I find myself having higher standards when I have just read a really wonderful couple of books just before this and then this was a bit of a let down.
What's not great about it? The characters have a decidedly two-dimensionality to them, they are simply not fleshed out enough to be real, to be real to me the reader. I need that in order to make a serious connection to them, and enjoy the book, and care about what happens to them. The action is not terribly interesting, and a bit predictable. The author has attempted to mix in some Norse mythology and I'm not quite sure how successful that is going to be down the road. We'll have to see as it develops.
I am curious to see what happens to the story, so will continue with the series, but I need something better in between these books to keep my mind feeling entertained.

Captivate is really good. I liked Need better though, I think. Zara is kinda too lovey dovey in this one for me. I hated how Nick died. Totally depressing. I loved Astley though. Felt kinda bad cause the only reason Zara kissed him was so she could go save Nick. Sadness. Liked it :)

Wow! This book has a major cliff hanger! I flipped the last page expecting to read more, but nope. That was it! I still really enjoyed it. It was as good or maybe a little better than Need. I would give it 3 and 1/2 stars.

Um... it's not that it was bad, it's just that somehow I misplaced the book. If it shows back up, I'll change this...

Overall, this was a good book. I enjoyed seeing the characters again, but I felt that it was a little too fast paced, at least compared to Need. There was a lot of coming and going, and it a lot of the events were just included to shift focus and prepare for the third book.
