You never need to budget for a paid monthly budget tool like the one that this guy sells, but there's some decent basic reminders/principals in here. Useful motivation for my winter financial cleaning.

The open layout of Jesse's budget recommendations are very refreshing after reading highly restrictive guru advice, but this book still coaches people who have extra money and need to better organize it. I didn't find this helpful in terms of offering solutions for our extremely bare bones income and high obligations budget. If you have extra money and want to know what to do with it, this is a great book. If you're wanting advice for your no frills, just trying to pay rent finances, I don't know if they write financial advice for us. If I can ever find that book, I'll definitely let you know about it.

This book had a couple of good budgeting tips, but nothing earth-shattering that revolutionized the way I budget now or in the future. It's also very couple-oriented which doesn't apply to my life. HOWEVER, the budget software is excellent and has worked much better for me than Quicken ever did.

For a book on budgeting, it was an interesting read. Something useful in each chapter. A few hot takes. Not too prescriptive, but good recommendations. Surprisingly little about the website/app.

YNAB is:
-the most awesome way to budget
-the best money management program I have ever used (and I've used quite a few)
-stable, reliable, and feature-rich
-the nicest looking program I have ever seen, too!

Yes, I am a big fan. There is a great support community, and the developers are seriously devoted to improving your financial situation instead of just selling software.

This book explains the mindset behind the way the software should be used. It is really worth reading to get the most out of the program and to get your finances working for you instead of the other way around.

Highly recommended.
