I love the adoption/caretaker trope, and this book has so much of that. The FMC is a strong character who gets herself into and then out of many situations. Her fatal flaw is that she struggles to deal with emotions, whether from those around her, or from within herself, leading to a few pretty reckless decisions with bad consequences.

I really liked the MMC, and how dedicated he was as soon as he made up his mind.

The story is gripping and kept me up late finishing it. The only reason it isn't a 5 star for me is some plot inconsistencies I didn't think about until after I finished. The rest of the story I was too invested to care.

Wow! I really loved this story! While its a zombie apocalypse it really deals with the survivors. It is interesting that this takes place about 20 years after the Outbreak. So there are adults who are now older as well as kids who were very young and now are mid twenties. It really outs a different perspective on the story.

The characters really captured my interest. I stop listening waiting to see what would happen next. There are characters to love and those to hate. Thea is a fav as well as Jason and Gunner. But the one who caught my eye was Viv who we meet later in the book.

This is loaded with action as well has some romance. I really loves this and while it does have a soft ending I really look forward to more.

I did listen to this on audio. Meghan Kelly did an amazing job. She puts the right amount of emotion into her voices that really helps me *feel* for the characters. Her voices for each characters seemed spot on. A easy and exciting listen.
