My first (and likely last) experience with closed door romance. It was entertaining, but also very off-putting in a way I can't place. The gender norms are intense here and there's lots of men grunting at each other to defend a lady's honor, but not in an affirming or particularly sexy way.

honestly i was going to say you can tell this is one of her older books because xyz hasn’t developed but then i looked it up and this was written 3 years ago and so now im caught off guard
not as funny or as endearing as some of her other books, but its a like a textbook brothers best friend trope. I didn’t like how much Lucy talked about her body and i don’t think she ever got over her insecurities by the end. also i just don’t like blonde men so this was just kinda hard to visualize in my head.
i did likethe i love you before they’re dating confession since that’s what happened with me and my boyfriend 5 years ago and so it really makes me feel like im living in the epilogue of my own romcom

I was all for this book, even after the extremely early “I love you” (which will turn me off so fast, but I did love this couple). However, it probably would have been a 3.5 for me until I got to the ending because if the I love you was fast, asking to and then actually proceeding to get married after not even being together for two months is actually insane. I totally would have been mad if I were Drew at that point. Honestly, if I hadn’t enjoyed the banter and fun moments leading up to that I this probably would have easily have been a 2-2.5 read.
Moderate: Body shaming, Toxic relationship, and Gaslighting
