This series about three sisters is definitely more genre/women's fiction than romance. This is Claire's story - the musical prodigy who was ripped away from her family at age 6. For most of the book, I was ready to give it 4 stars because I really liked Claire. But as the book went along, she started acting more stupidly naive than charming. None of the secondary characters - including the hero, who feels more like a secondary character - were particularly likeable. Except Amy, of course, who was the best part of the book.

December 2017 Review:

This was an enjoyable read. I thought the story was well-written and great. I really liked the relationship between Wyatt and Claire. Claire is a great heroine and I really liked to she does not let anything keep her down. I really like her characterization. She is really relatable to me as she has the same attitude as me. Also, I still really love Wyatt. I love that he is a single dad with a deaf daughter who he loves with all his heart. He is a businessman and best friends with Claire’s twin sister, Nicole. I can’t wait to reread the rest of the books. Overall, a great read.

October 2014 Review:

I quite liked this book! I will read the other books too! I love Claire's spirit! She’s kind of like the energizer bunny. She doesn't let anything keep her down, which is a strong lesson for anyone to learn. But I think what made this book for me was her love interest, Wyatt. He is a sweetie! He's best friends with Claire's twin sister, Nicole. He is a single father and his daughter is deaf but still means the world to him! He is a businessman and is described as very attractive! But what I loved about him most is the fact that he knows the right thing to do and when he is at fault for his mistakes such as not realizing he loves Claire! It's every woman's dream guy!!!

Falling in love for the first time. Whoops, she’s a virgin! Deaf representation. Sisters figuring out how to relate. False pretenses. Learning to accept care. Panic attacks. Accidental pregnancy. Bakery. If at first you fail, try again.

Dead parents. Car accident. Surgeries. Sisterly betrayal and estrangement.

It was pretty good. i didn't like the sister who kept pushing away the famous sister just because she got to spend more time with the mother. It was sad because the famous sister never really had a childhood thanks to her career. I thought it was sweet that the guy and his daughter had show up at her show.

This was a quick read for me, and I liked it more than I expected.

I would enjoy hearing more about the bakery and the famous family cake recipe.

This year I've decided to reread some books that I never reviewed before. I wanted to see if I still felt the same way about them. Back in the day I loved Susan Mallery's romances. Now she does more of a women's fiction with romance that I'm not a fan of, but I do miss her books so she's one of the ones that are up for reread.

I can remember reading Sweet Talk like it was yesterday and that's because I hate Nichole. No, she isn't the main heroine of this story. She's the sister of the heroine. Now saying that I think that she totally overshadowed everyone else in the book. This series is a trilogy, and you'll hear me say this in all of them. Including her own story.

I love Clair and really felt for her. She is blamed for things that she had no control over at all. Not only that her sister bad mouthed her to everyone and then they treated her like crap. Even with all that happing she never once gave in a treat other badly.

At first Wyatt made me made by the way he treated Clair. I got it, he was friends with her sister and believed everything that was said. I loved how good of a father he was, and he did all he could to take care of his daughter and give her everything he can. His daughter is a rock star of this story. She's a sweet, caring kid that stood for those she cared for.

I know that this review sounds like I didn't like the book but that's not true. I just had so many issues with her sister, and I will address more of that when I review the next book in the series. I did really like Claire and Wyatt together and when Claire and her sister are getting along, they stand for each other. It just to get to that place took a big part of the story. There is a main plot that goes throughout each of the stories, so you really need to read them in order.

This was an easy read which had an engaging and sweet heroine. Although often cliche (I swear I've read the over-stressed famous musician trope a few times now), I felt the family drama played out well enough to hook me into reading the next two in the series. This author hasn't wowed me with this work, but I'll be curious to see what some of her other work might hold in store.
