This book made me straight up cry. Not just slip a tear, but actually cry.

Well done, Ms DeStefano. This was awesome in the most literal sense.

This is a book that you need to read in your life. It’s full of love. It IS a bit sad, but it’s so worth it! I cried more than I have in ANY other book, but I loved it so much. It was amazing. Definitely one of the best books I’ve read this year (and this is number 108). Read it. It’s amazing.

I don’t read sad books often. I read to find other worlds and to see characters overcoming challenges. They came be huge challenges that involve life-or-death stakes. These are different than my trials, but they help just the same. This was different, but in a good way. Sometimes, I need something that hits more close to home. Something that targets my fears, but shows how those can be overcome, too, with time.

This was a beautiful book, one that I will treasure. DeStefano managed to capture emotion just as well as Sharon Creech, and that is a HIGH bar. Thank you, author, for this wonderful book.

Recommended for those who like sad stories that get better, “Walk Two Moons,” by Sharon Creech, real life with just a touch of fantasy, and Sharon Creech in general.
