This book is a quick but fascinating read. It is well organized, with lots of information and context. It is structured around the months of the year and the ecological events that happen around an oak tree during each month. It has definitely inspired me to plant oak trees in my own yard and I have gained a new appreciation for bugs as well.
Minor: Animal death, Violence, Excrement, and Abortion
There is a brief use of the word "abortion" in reference to a tree reabsorbing unfertilized acorns. The violence, excrement, and animal death are all related to explaining the life cycle, food habits, and prey of birds and bugs around an oak tree.
