This one was creepy fun! Makes me wonder though, if I have a grool… worst. Luck. Ever.

Bonus points for having siblings that aren’t twats to eachother!

Goosebumps. This is the series that kept me reading through my childhood. More than any other series, Goosebumps kept me interested in reading, and R.L. Stein is a wonderful children's writer. I applaud his efforts, and can't express enough my gratitude for the series.

Growing up, I LOVED the Goosebumps books, Christopher Pike, Are You Afraid of the Dark and so on. Kind of ironic since I'm not as into horror now in my adulthood but I thought it would be fun to revisit these books as an adult during this spooky season. I remember some of them unnerving me back then!

As for this particular book, it holds up still! It was a little goofy but quick and easy to get through. The characters were more on the endearing scale than the WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS level.

Basically, the family moves to a new house and are very excited with how big it is. A bit of a fixer upper but they are thrilled nonetheless. All until some odd things start happening and it might all be connected to a sponge THAT BREATHES.

All in all, I might be a little biased with nostalgia but still I am giving this 3 hehe stars and I look forward to reading a few other Goosebumps books. HOPEFULLY, I don't pick the sigh worthy or eyeroll worthy ones.

Following The Stand with It Came from Beneath the Sink! maybe did this book a disservice, but I'm not convinced. Compared to other Goosebumps books, this entry is not of particularly good quality. The plot has a few inconsistencies, and once again Stine's tendency to include utter nonsense that ultimately goes nowhere and seems to serve no purpose other than increasing the word count is well and truly present. The cliffhanger chapter endings are also very poor.

It's not all terrible though - I liked the protagonist, Kat. The actual concept of a living sponge-like bad luck charm is also promising, although not brilliantly realised here. The book was never a chore to read, but it did lack a certain polish (which, admittedly, I've come to not always expect with Goosebumps books but it's still disappointing). Ultimately, it just wasn't a very exciting book. There were a few tiresome tropes that Stine managed to minimise (for example, no-one believing Kat), but sadly this was not enough to make this an enjoyable read.
