This trilogy is quickly becoming one of my favorites! Darksoul was leagues better than Godblind, so much so I could not put it down. My attachment to the characters has only grown throughout the novel, and I am very excited to see where this story goes. There is a twist and turn at every corner, and wow was this book eventful.

It was entertaining enough, though much too focused on warfare for my liking.

Wow. I'm almost speechless...
I already loved Godblind - but Darksoul is even better!

This one is a rollercoaster of a ride. Anna Stephens manages to balance just enough hope to keep you invested with utter bleakness and many deaths and unexpected turns and twists. Nobody is save in this series - and yet not everyone gets killed off and there's still always a glimmer of hope. It just HAS TO work out in the end - doesn't it? At least you are glued to the pages waiting to see and hoping. Always hoping...

I devoured it. I love the characters - the good as much as the bad! They are all well fleshed out full personalities, not cardboard cutouts. Some I wish would die, others I don't want to lose! They are definitely one of the authors specialities!

There's plenty of action mixed with politics, friendships, war, religion, betrayals and lots of character growth. It has everything I want in a book - and more.

Darksoul is still brand new - and already I can't wait for the sequel! This definitely is becoming one of my all-time favourite series!

Sadly a disappointment in comparison to Godblind. The first book moved at breakneck speed, with twists that you normally expect to happen at the end of a book happening a third of the way in. This book doesn’t have that speed, and is instead a prolonged siege. Interesting things happen throughout, and the characters are good, but it just isn’t as engaging as its predecessor. Also, one of the key characters from the first book gets absolutely shafted both in terms of chapters and plot & character development, which really sucks.

The second book in the Godblind trilogy, Darksoul focuses on the war between the Mireces and Rilpor. Now, normally I hate war scenes in books and endless descriptions of fighting. I prefer the political fighting and backstabbing. BUT THIS BOOK THOUGH!

It was as gory and violent and fucked-up as the first book and I loved every second of it! Despite the fact that the majority of this book is the fighting and battling, there was still enough plot for me to power through it, and the plot points and twists did not disappoint.
SpoilerI loved the reveal of Crys being the Fox God, and thought his scenes were so well done
.

Going into the last book, my favourite characters have to be Crys, Ash and Tara. I think their characters are the best and have the best development over the two books so far, and they're all badass fighting machines and they're my precious little cinnamon buns.
SpoilerThe relationship between Crys and Ash is so special to me. I love that they undoubtedly love each other and they have this beautiful bond, but it doesn't stop either of them from getting the job done and fighting the enemy. I really thought that Ash was a goner early on in the book when he faced up against Galtas and my heart stopped when Crys found him nailed to the door. But thank the Fox God, Crys was able to bring him back!
Also, I'm looking forward to seeing Tara kick some more butt in the next book and
Spoilerhopefully kill Crotus and Lanta!!

Really loved this book and cannot wait to get my hands on Bloodchild!!

An amazing and gripping fantasy book, a great discovery!
I loved everything in this book that is engaging, enthralling and a real page turner.
I didn't read the previous instalment but I will surely add it to my TBR list.
It was a great reading experience.
I loved everything from the world building to the characters, from the style of writing to the turns in the plot.
I look forward to reading the next instalment.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC

I think Anna Stephens deserves a lot more respect for her books than what Goodreads ratings and reviews seem to give. Anna's books are simple yet enjoyable!

This book was basically a one big battle from the first page to the last, stakes were again really high and you couldn't be certain who is going to stay alive and who is going to die.

Even though I didn't feel totally invested in all the POV's, the division between good and bad was so clear that I was really devoted to the good ones to win. The best thing in this book, and in the previous too, was that the bad side truly feels bad.
