My last book for the semester!! This was a crazy book and the award for the worst human being has to go to Bruce Robertson.

I could use a hit of something after this experience. An upper for preference.

There should be zero sympathy in universe for the vile, obnoxious, unrepentant, unhinged bastard that is Bruce Robertson, but by the end of the book I feel a pity for him - something he'd utterly detest.

For most of the book Bruce is standing drunk, off her head on drugs, upto his eyeballs in lust. He's disgusting both inside and out. Reeking of desperation and pish.

He's FILTH, in both profession and disposition.

He has also got a parasites. One in his gut; one in his brain. They are eating him alive, both literally and figuratively speaking.

Bruce is broken, and no amount of hooring with sate him.

But how low will he go?!

I read this book as a teenager and have never forgotten it, I almost gave up on it several times. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Disgusting piece of work… worst protagonist I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading about. Yet in saying that, it seems Irvine Welsh succeeded in his goal. Never will there be a more apt title than ‘Filth’.
