I enjoyed this book but not in the sense that I wanted to get lost in the pages but instead it made me think more about the human race, evolution, how skills and knowledge are passed down, and more. It’s slow and sometimes painful at how dull it can be but I think it can appeal to a certain person. I plan on some day continuing the series but need a break for now.

This book is indeed well written and takes you into another world fully. But boy is it a dark book. A lot of errors and obstacles. Way too dark for me. But still left me wanting to know what will happen next…

A unique and interesting read. Could have done without the agonizingly detailed descriptions of plants, or the bizarre 'racial' memory thing (they could remember being fish? Really?). Focused on odd moments to describe in detail but then was very brief when going over events that seemed more important. But overall it was enjoyable and something different to read.
