A little on the nose and message-y. The text is almost too simple and it feels very of the moment. Not necessarily a bad thing but I feel like Because Amelia Smiled and A Walk on Market Street do the same thing but with more subtlety.

Now, I like the general premise of this book, which is that small things can and will make a difference in the face of bad news. But I do rather think that “being polite to neighbours” and “continuing to shop at the stores of people who are immigrants/not the same race as you” is more of your baseline for behaviour than any THING you do to take down the evil in the world. There are donations to give and protests to go to and volunteering and charity work and randomly giving food to neighbours to do, and those are the small acts that I wish the book had mentioned as things a parent can show a child, rather than manners.

I think this picture book perfectly sums up what needs to happen right now. Kindness. Small moments. Start with kids now.

A must-share with students kind of picture book. How to relate to the world around you when you continue to see bad things happening.

I didn't quite understand the message. I think it was to be that little things matter, but I really don't see what exactly she did. I agree with other reviewers that it felt like pages were missing.

This is a great book to read together with a child that might be feeling overwhelmed by all they are seeing and hearing on the news today. Simple and sweet, perfect for a preschooler.

You will want to talk together after you finish the story because not all of us live in city like the family in this book. Perhaps talk about places you go together and see other people and how you can be kind and spread happiness. Places like the public library and storytime.

I'm glad this book exists but I am sad that it has to.

This is a wonderful example of how our everyday actions can uplift the world around us. This book shows children that even with all of the negative things we hear on the news, we can still be a driving force for inclusion and positivity in the world. "Come With Me" calls the reader to action in telling them that, "Because as small as it may seem, your part matters to the world."
