This book… Um, don’t know where to start. It was boring, exciting plot twist, back to boring. But within all the boring was also just confusion.
Evil MIL who played small role in book ends up being the biggest issue? Somehow thinking the woman with bipolar / schizophrenia who tried to kill her sons girlfriend was a better fit for her son. Mind you, she’s very stuck up and uppity. So that makes no sense as her son is “perfect” and she would otherwise see Marisa as very flawed.
Also paints mental illness in an odd way. I don’t know. I forced myself through it hoping for a good ending. I was let down.

Story told from different perspectives so you start sympathising with one character, change your mind and then change it again. Interesting read but I didn’t love it.

A good read with some twists, very good use of different perspectives as well to show the story - story kept the pace well and didn’t feel too long!

I enjoyed this one a lot more than I expected! I went into it having the mindset of 'getting through it' but I actually really enjoyed the story. It had a very unique storytelling process of having you root for two people who had every reason to be against each other. It did an awesome job of giving perspective and backstory that fully rounded the characters.

There is a decent chunk of this book that is about trying to conceive, IVF, miscarriages, etc. so if that is something that you are sensitive to, I suggest reading some reviews. That is not something that I have personally gone through so I don't think I'm the best person to speak to it but I think it could be pretty heavy to those going through that.

I would definitely read another one of Day's book! The twist was definitely unexpected.

A big thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this one!
