Funny, engaging, I was excited to see where each page should take me. I loved the author’s writing style and tone of voice for the two POVs! I totally felt the fantasy element throughout but I enjoyed how the book didn’t take itself too seriously and made various asides to the reader. The romance was definitely a slow burn but I’m so invested in seeing how the relationship pans out. Overall so well done and I am looking forward to continuing the series!

I am so happy to feel excited again about a book series!!! A trilogy nonetheless, which is feasible with my current schedule. Grumpy x Sunshine with E2L tropes were exactly what I needed.

The story follows the perspectives of our main protagonists Amma and Damien. Damien is described as a dark lord, demon spawn, blood mage with a prophecy to destroy a realm. Oh, and he's also trying to free his demon father that has been trapped for most of his life.

Everything loses control after an accidental meeting with Amma, a not-so nifty thief set on her own secret objective. Amma manages to arcanely tether herself to Damien, royally messing up any plans he had.

Together, they embark on a journey of sorts, uncovering many secrets about themselves along the way, for greater good or evil.

I fell head over heels for these two misfits in this cozy dark romance.

The ending gave enough answers to keep the reader satisfied while still withholding some information for the next two books to reveal. I'm really looking forward to delving into the next book in the trilogy (starting it now), and immersing myself back into it's world.

Can I also mention how nice it is to have an ACTUAL villain as the main love interest? Without him being overly sadistic or cruel, but the villainy is very much present. I feel like sometimes there's a reveal that the villain is actually not as villainy as they seem too early on in some books, but Throne in the Dark really delivers exactly what I've been asking for. Damien is the perfect combination of charming and dangerous that will have you kicking your feet. Amma is a great balance to him, as she's a bright light with a good heart, but not afraid to do what needs to be done to protect those she loves. They compliment each other exquisitely and I only wish I read the first book slower to savor it even more. However, it was impossible to put down.

I gave it 5 stars because it just made me feel warm and excited and happy. Okay, also the world-building was totally awesome and the characters are to die for. Enough said.
