Every foray into the Old Kingdom reveals more fascinating worldbuilding information about it, Terciel and Elinor is no exception. I loved this exploration of events we only had small hints about in later books, as well as learning a littleore about characters we know of later on, like Mirelle. I also really enjoyed learning a bit more about how Ancelstierre was in earlier times, and how the Charter Mark was something to be hidden.

This was a great addition to the lore of the Old Kingdom, and only leaves me hoping for more.

I want to go and live in every magical place Garth Nix invents. I could read a whole book of him just describing a house.

Love this series. My library hold came through and I devoured this. So happy to return. Even knowing their tragic fate that awaits. Totally cried at the ending still.

This installment was like a daily life drama entry,
Spoiler with the climax being this big battle that went surprisingly well and had the happiest of possible endings, tbh.
So this didn't feel as thrilling with life and death peril as the previous entries. But still really enjoyable. And maybe what we all needed at this time? as the book being written in our pandemic times.

I enjoyed the last two (Clariel and Goldenhand), but they weren't as overall satisfying as the first three. This one was. Terciel and Elinor is every bit as fulfilling as the best of The Old Kingdom, and I'd highly recommend that any fan of the series read this one (even if you skipped the last two).
