In this collection Phillips looks at the body against identity, and the political against the personal. Each poem is visceral, moving through history by way of distraught speakers. Some of these poems are incredibly personal, a close look at the personal body politic. I couldn't put this one down, each po called to me, made me red closely, a serious collection, one you won't want to miss.

Brilliantly rich and complex, like a very fine piece of machinery made of dark, beeswaxed wood - a book to return to at different seasons.
