It just didn't quite pique my interest enough throughout and keep up the pacing to get the 3 ⭐

The main character was socially awkward from the start and somewhat unlikable. She had an abusive childhood and has a toxic relationship with her mother. As the story goes on, it seems like Eleanor may have autism, though it never outright says that. In the end, the story was worth the read.

A super sweet novel about a woman uncovering her past. Eleanor takes some getting used to, but that’s besides the point - by the end of the book, I absolutely adored her. The first half of the book was slow-ish, but the second half of the book had me in a chokehold and I finished it in a day.

It’s hard to describe the book as “cozy”, because it deals with very serious topics, but I found it emotional and inspiring, and I imagine this one will be simmering in the back of my mind for a while.

I adored this book cover to cover, I knew I was going to love it even before I owned a copy.

‘Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine’ and is an incredibly unique, wonderful and inspiring character. At thirty-years old, she lives her life by routine. She eats the same food, wears the same clothes, goes to work and lives her life by the clock. Oliphant has worked and lived in the same place for years, never having a day off or calling in sick. She doesn’t spend her time with colleagues and if she must she is home by the hour. With no friends or close relatives, Eleanor lives her life on her own. Everything changes when she and a work colleague help a fallen stranger and eleanor is then forced to over come her barriers in the most beautiful and captivating way.

Thought-provoking, absolutely stunning, heartbreaking but deeply heart-warming. This book literally had me through everything emotion, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and deserves all the awards!

A thoroughly lovely book. Especially suited for those of us who have experienced extreme early childhood trauma and have felt unseen. The light always overcomes darkness.
