creeeeeepy and fascinating. "the beast of chicago" is crazytown. i'm going to finish reading "devil in the white city" sooner rather than later now.

minor complaint, the print is TINY and hard to read in places.

Enough detail to put together the pieces of each story, and I really appreciate that Geary mapped out events. It's a good collection, I'm just not very fond of his drawing style.

I appreciate the artistic style and layout of the graphic novels more. Geary does a good job setting up the scene and laying out the different theories.

This rating is based mostly on The Fatal Bullet and the shorter stories. I had read [b:The Beast of Chicago|720947|The Beast of Chicago An Account of the Life and Crimes of Herman W. Mudgett, Known to the World As H.H. Holmes|Rick Geary|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1177623491s/720947.jpg|667648] and [b:Jack the Ripper: A Journal of the Whitechapel Murders 1888-1889|864889|Jack the Ripper A Journal of the Whitechapel Murders 1888-1889|Rick Geary|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1328754712s/864889.jpg|726798] beforem (I think they're good, not great). I had just read [b:Assassination Vacation|3110|Assassination Vacation|Sarah Vowell|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1388206860s/3110.jpg|824686], so this definitely fueled my love of James A. Garfield. This has the usual maps and fantastic bibliography. I'm a sucker for research!

Creepy stories, good art if not somewhat simplistic art. Historically basic in some cases, but always well presented and walks the fine line between crime and gore very well.
