This was not very good. I gave it two stars, however, because I think the author has potential and this prequel might be good if I knew the characters.

Read a few of the author's Evan Evans mystery a long time ago. This short mystery was also entertaining

This was a very short story that leads up to the full length novels about Molly Murphy. This was so short that it actually should have been included in the first novel. There was not really anything to this story and the tone certainly didn't match the time frame of the book. The characters were undeveloped and the story pretty much went nowhere. So the buck stops here as this story doesn't encourage me to move any further into the series. Pretty much a waste of time. Thank goodness is was free!!

The description blurb contains more details than this very short story, which makes it choppy, odd, and baffling to a reader unfamiliar with the heroine.
Twelve pages short, with the other 25 pages given to promoting the latest book in the series...leaving me feeling tricked by the publisher. Much rather just being offered an excerpt, like normal with most every e-book now.
Perhaps one day I'll try the first full length novel in the series.
