I was excited for this book because I thought it followed the story in the first book, but it was a completely different story - although does tie back to the first story at the end. With that being said, I was not happy with the book at first, but I kept going and fell in love with the book! If you are looking for a perfect continuation of the first book, you won’t find that here, but have an open mind.

I thought this was a good follow-up! I liked the jungle adventure aspect, and Catalina and Manuel are good characters to follow. I thought the character development for Catalina was done pretty well. My only complaint is that the resolution felt very rushed. Sooo much happened in the last 50 or so pages, with the mystery resolution and Luna and the reunion with Ximena.

If it didn’t drag so much, I would like it much much more. It was a cute read overall!

I do not normally gravitate to YA or fantasy, but I am so thankful I did. This book was like nothing I've read before, and kept my attention from day one. It had been a while since I read Woven in Moonlight, but as soon as I opened up Written in Starlight it was as if no time had passed! The setting was so unique and provided for such adventure! While the main character is royalty, she is so relatable! The descriptions are so vivid, I felt like I was in the jungle (and I have zero experience to draw from)! I cannot wait to read more from this author, we need this kind of diversity in stories!
