A++ graphic novel. art is beautiful and very well-done, well thought out and it conveys so much in every panel. a short read, but endearing, makes you love the characters and feel for the things they go through. makes me want to get the big volume of all the origin stories! grabbed this from the public library to start me off on these character's stories.

Spent 10 minutes reading this standing in the middle of my condo, and had a reasonably good time. It's a fast look at the backstory for Caleb Widogast that we knew of from the campaign - but it's interesting to see it visually laid out. The art was beautiful. But I will not forgive the artists for including Frumpkin the cat as a victim in the fire - absolutely heartBREAKING.

Just as sad and traumatizing as I expected it to be. We've learned quite a bit about Caleb#s backstory during the campaign and I had no illusions about how rough this comic would be but yeah our poor wizard boy really had a BAD time. I like how Ickythongs manipulation was made very obvious though and I also appreciated a lot that they should the relationship between Caleb, Astrid and Eadwulf explicitly on page because it is an important part of his past and how he developed at the academy.

If you are planning to read this and you've seen Campaign 2 already - all good. If you haven't or know very little about Caleb's story this is an explicit recommendation to check the trigger warnings before reading because this comic has it all.

Good visualisation of the story Liam told in the show, with nice extra insight to Caleb/Astrid/Eadwulf’s relationship. Didn’t really expand more than that, though.
