I really enjoyed this book, mostly because I like the female characters very much.
However, I can't help to see a pattern. This second book follows pretty much the same formula as the first book.
Or is it just me?
I truly hope it is just me and that the next book in the series can take me by surprise because I honestly want to keep reading this series. But I won't be able to do it if all the outcomes are going to be so predictable.

With some trepidation, she reached for the third book...

Fast-paced reading book. The club is back again. Lindsay faces a familiar encounter and two of the girls get attacked by the killer.

Even though the story is related to another shooter, there are some personal events happening to the girls, which makes side stories interesting too.

Lindsay is more emotional and determined because of her enemies. The girls also seem more attached than the previous book, although, with less interaction towards the main case.

Good book. Going for the third part now.

I have never been much of a series book person. i'm not sure why...but, there is something about this James Patterson series that I can't seem to put down. I admit. it's not perfect. but, is anything really?

2nd chance is a creative look at racially motivated crimes, dirty cops and what happens when someone just can't let something go and bent on revenge.

The writing is a lot more tighter in this book than in the 1st, the plot twist a lot more believable than in the first (and might I add I'm REALLY glad it wasn't going the way I thought it was going to go.)

Great character development and some heart break along the way -
Spoiler Lindsay's Dad being introduced, Tasha being killed (I mean, God! who shoots an 11 year old choir girl in front of her church!), Jill losing the baby, Mercer dying (dammit I liked him)
and the action packed race the clock that I really like and know James Patterson for.

A little romance
Spoiler how cute are Cindy and the Reverend, I know it's not a romance but I want to see more of their budding relationship

A simple read with a pretty uplifting ending and a book I couldn't seem to put down.

The one con about the series...I wish there was more of: Claire, Cindy and Jill - I can't wrap my head around why it's always told from Lindsay's point of view...I get that she's the cop and stuff but...I don't know maybe I'm just not a fan of partial 1st person.

Quick question:
Spoiler what happened to Lindsay's anemia in the first book, it was almost fatal and then it just..wasn't mentioned again in the 2nd

In the second installment of the Women's Murder Club we have what appears to be a serial killer who is killing African Americans who are somehow linked to the police force.

My favorite part of the book is the characters. The focus on Lindsay, the detective, Clair, the Medical Examiner, Jill, the Assistant District Attorney, and Cindy the reporter. Over the course of the book we learn more about their lives and relationships. I love the strong friendship these four have.

Beyond the characters, the mystery portion of this book is very well paced and keeps you wondering what is going to happen next.

I highly recommend this book for people who love strong female lead characters and love a good mystery thrown in as a bonus.

I left this unrated as I couldn't decide, and now coming back to review I barely remember it. From what I do remember the 'connections' made between the crimes were slim at best and I only finished it because it was incredibly quick to get through.

I gave it a three only because after 1st To Die I expected it to be incredibally riveting. However, my attention was only snagged at the very end. Looking forward to the 3rd book though. I'm told it's amazing!

Once again Patterson had me fooled! I thought about half way through that I knew who the killer was but I was wrong. Though my original decision did turn out to be a not so great of a person so I guess I'll call that a win on my part!

I'm still not sure how I feel about mystery novels on a whole yet. I mean, I really like tv shows like Women's Murder Club, Rizzoli and Isles, Castle, even Law and Order, but as far as reading them goes... I just waffle on the whole subject. Some times I really like the book and I'm super into it. Other times I'm going "Gosh, why isn't this over yet!" I guess the beginnings are the hardest part. I want to know who the killer is, right now.

I really enjoyed getting to see inside the other women's lives this time around. I feel like I know Claire, Jill, and Cindy a bit better than I had in the last book. Seeing their personal lives and how they struggle with what's going on makes it a bit easier to understand them and their connection to Lindsay.

Personally, dealing with Lindsay's father issues (which come up around mid-novel mind you!) was a bit much for me. It's not something that I like to read about because I generally read to escape into another world so when I can connect that much with a characters life, I dislike the feeling of it.

All-in-all it's a pretty okay book. It took me about three days to get through it which is much longer than it would normally take me to read my usual fantasy novels. I guess maybe I can't judge this fairly because it's not what I usually read?
