Im a sucker for a Mafia RH and I struggled through this one. The second half of the book is spent in the characters heads, expounding on their thought process without a satisfying amount of action or dialogue. I like the characters but had a hard time getting through this book

Very good writer. The charters are very real. The story line is good but it was predictable. I'm waiting for the next book so much more to the story.

This was supposed to be a stand alone but there is a sequel to this book which I did not read and do not intend to read for the following reasons.

The book was supposed to be a dark MAFIA romance. Even though it was set in a mafia world, I didn’t think that the book was about the comings and going of the mafia. Instead it was more about the romance between the FMC and three other mafia men. The FMC was portrayed as a strong, independent and empowered woman who is also broke and struggling. She meets two of these men in a series of one night stands and hook ups. And the third one was one who she’s known and loved in the post. At this point, I was hoping she would choose one of these men. Boy, was I wrong. Not only did she not choose one, she proceeds to have intimate relations with all of them and ends up living with them in the same house in a polyamorous relationship. For those who don’t know what a polyamorous relationship is, it’s when one person is in a relationship with more than one person with the consent of all those involved.

Now, i understand that some people like to read these kind of stories and that is fine, to each their own. BUT what irked me about this book, was that I didn’t find the STORY itself engaging. It didn’t have any substance to it, didn’t have a plot. For me, if I’m reading a book, it needs more than sex and inner monologues explaining why you are having sex with multiple men. And it needs more than, I feel a connection with all of them.

And before, you ask, yes it is spicy, and yes it is dark at times. But just spice isn’t enough. And if a book is supposed to be dark, tell me why. If a person is supposed to do things that are morally unacceptable then, the book should explain why this person is enjoying this type of behavior, instead of the reasoning being I guess she’s always have a dark side to her. WHAT?!

That’s all about this book folks. If you are still picking it up to read, and you like it, I don’t know what to say to you

Story and characters were fine. Definitely some errors throughout and the writing was a bit cliche for the genre.

So Good

I actually started this series in a weird order. I read Ruin My Life first without realizing that they kind of intertwined. Now I’m finally starting the rest of the books. This book was so good and I was hooked from the beginning. I loved all three of June’s men but I’m really holding out hope for Simon to join in the second book. The ending of this was interesting. It ended like a standalone instead of a cliff hanger like most books in a series. I’m not sure if I like that more or not lol. I like the rush of a good cliffy but if I have to wait for it then I get stressed. I’m excited to dive into June’s second book!
