My sister the a huge Chris Carter fan and I've been wanting to try his books for a long time. I saw an excellent offer on Amazon and so decided to give it a go.

The premise of the book is really good, the murders a pretty horrific and there is lots of details around psychology etc which I find really interesting.

However, I didn't like Hunter as a character. He was the typical rough around the edges, drinks too much womaniser who thinks he's a bit special. Any woman had a description of how attractive she was.

There is no doubt that these kinds of characters are around in real life but it just seemed a little bit overdone.

The storyline was complelling and it was definitely a page turner. The killer really was sending the police on a wild goose chase.
I did love his partner though and I gelled with him far more.

I have huge issues with the plot line though. I have trouble understanding how the crucifix killer could have done what they did by themselves. Despite having time on their hands.

I'm not even sure that the reasons for the crimes worked. I can't imagine a person involved on saving people would want to inflict that kind of pain on so many people. Although stranger things have happened I suppose.

Overall I was a little disappointed but I'm determined to read more of Carter's books

Ugh i wish i had all Chris Carter books. I can tell he’s going to be a new favorite author. Please release more ebook versions in the US 🥲

So dark and twisted. The writing is phenomenal and how it tied together was satisfying.
