While the Midnight Library isn't the normal book I would choose to read now that I have read it. I was enthralled by the cover and the summary of the content I heard: someone being able to live an infinity of lives through books in a library. It wasn't what I expected, it was a thousand times better, not perfect and worth my five stars (maybe I'll changd my mind after a reread), but still so so good. Living these lives with Nora Seed, questioning our regrets while she can actually redo them, questioning the way of life... It was refreshing and a learning experience all the same. I would love to read this book again. It was great. Life isn't just happy moments, but hard as well, it's not about being perfect, it's about living, finding your moments and people and things you enjoy to do.
This book showed me that the little things are as important as the big and that it is okay to aim low as well, as long as you continue to aim and not give up. Doing something badly is better than not doing it at all!

Would you have done anything different if you had The chance to undo your regrets?
I'm sobbing now I finished this book it was another good book by Matt haig and definitely  one I'll be talking about for a very long time.
Huge flirting with nora was so cute

"The sex turned out to be disappointing"
"You are just a Mechanism"
This book is sooo good
This book made me fall in love with the charcters and felt the stories I would recommend  this to everyone  I know  especially  if you don't believe  you should be here, you are loved and I'm glad you are alive.
I'm so glad joe got sober and he became the person he needed to be😭

This book was so inspiring and hit me hard unfortunately  I know how nora felt throughout This book, and some of the topics hit home for me, the best advice I can give any reader is please take care of yourself  after reading this there is plenty of heavy topics

More than a 3 (it's a book and i read it) but less than a 4 (a book i would consider reading again and/ or definitely recommend others read)

At this point in my life, i appreciated the message

It was narrated very slowly - even at a higher speed, the narrator spoke at a natural speed. Whilst it matched the tone of the book, this may not suit everyone

i like the fantasy/sci-fi world building and framework for this book, it has a lot of potential. but the actual prose and character writing left more to be desired. i was not engaged with the protagonist at all. the writing was very dry (but picks up later on).

I really wanted to like this book. I think it started off strong, but it goes downhill from there. Matt Haig uses deliberate structure to drive to the main plot of the story, however, once the story is actually in motion, it falls flat. I related a lot to the main character, Nora, in the beginning, but I found the repeating plot device of choosing different life paths to be annoying after the fourth or fifth time. Nora's character development felt a bit "on the nose" at times and I predicted the ending as soon as she stepped into the library. The supporting characters felt flat and two-dimensional, even across every parallel universe.

Haig earns an additional quarter-star for using the word "ceilidh", but overall, The Midnight Library earns a solid "meh" for me.

Anyone who calls this book "fun" and "humorous" has never suffered depression in my opinion. Or I just didn't understand the humor in this. Nothing in this book screamed fun and humor to me. I liked the book tho. But it was painful, dark and a really really powerful punch to the face for the first half. Because this hit me hard. I barely made it to the part where the hopeful and uplifting theme begins to shine through and I haven't had a depressive phase in almost 8 years. I liked the ending even if it was very predictable. It also feels kinda preachy at times.
