Full Review on my blog!

"We made deals. We didn't give our help away for free. This was a transaction. One problem resolved in exchange for something in return. And what that something was, depended on what our clients had to offer."

Hmmm, where to start.... I didn’t know what to think going into this book, but I loved the mystery surrounding each character. Kind of a slow start, for me at least, but once the story began unfolding and the mystery surrounding Jack and Elle began to reveal itself, I was quickly pulled in.

Demon of Mine is the first book in The Devil Heart Boys series and tells the story of Elle and Jack. It's a supernatural bully romance with added creep factor. I enjoyed getting to know Elle and Jack and although their story appears to reach its conclusion there is still the option to continue but I hope to see more of them in the following books.

It starts off when Elle's mother goes missing, leaving behind a massive debt which forces Elle to move. She finds herself living with Aston, the only adult who’s ALWAYS at work, Jack and his twin sister Teagan. Elle quickly discovers that there is something strange about the Mandeville Place, something supernatural. Not only this but a certain boy in the house has sworn to make Elle's life a living hell and avoiding him at Darkwood Academy is not easy. Jack was an absolute asshole to Elle when they first met, but as the story progresses and Elle is unknowingly pulled into a deal with the Devil, we learn what Jack's motivations are and how they have come to shape his misguided decisions.

The storyline was a little rushed, imo and was slightly predictable but hoping with future books in this series that we get more background and more character development. I love Caroline's work, but I will admit, this isn't the best work of hers but I did enjoy it, in the end. I recommend it~

I thoroughly enjoyed this bullyish, high-YA, paranormal romance.

Elle's mom disappears so she's taken in by an old family friend. There, she meets the dark, broody Jack Mandeville and his twin Teagen. From the beginning Jack despises Elle and through a series of twists and turns you find out why. Plagued by, what he thinks, is a demon, Jack knows Elle is the girl he's cursed with.

What follows is a surprisingly emotional, intriguing, and raw tale of betrayal and love. I loved the growth of Jack and the undeniable strength and goodness of Elle. She was so pure it was inevitable that Jack would fall for her.

And ohmygoodness, that ending? My heart broke for Jack and then healed right up when he made the right choice. That showed his genuinely good soul and just confirmed he was destined to be with Elle.

Demon of mine was a page-turner and I can't wait to read more from this Caroline Peckham.

Original review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham!

Demon of Mine
is the first book in The Devil Heart Boys series and tells the story of Elle and Jack.

Demon of Mine is yet another amazing book written by Caroline Peckham. So far there hasn’t been a book by her that I didn’t love. Every book Caroline Peckham writes is so well written, fast paced and just everything that I needed!

Elle is such a lovable main character. I love her passion for dancing and how interested she is in the occult. Jack is kind of an ass until you get to read the chapters in his perspective and know why he acts like that. I love the double perspective and I just love Elle and Jack!

I think Demon of Mine is one of my favourite books so far, together with the Zodiac Academy series. Demon of Mine is a different kind of story that what Caroline Peckham usually writes, which makes me love it even more! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

"The blood of a hero runs in your veins, Elle."

Elle's life has fallen apart. Her mother is missing, leaving behind a massive debt which forces Elle to move into her mother's ex-husband's home with his two adoptive children. Elle quickly discovers that there is something strange about the Mandeville Place, something supernatural. Not only this but a certain boy in the house has sworn to make Elle's life a living hell and avoiding him at Darkwood Academy is not easy. Jack Mandeville and his intimidating friends run this place, including every student and teacher in it. Elle must figure out what the ghostly presence in the house is trying to tell her as well as discovering how far Jack will go to keep her away.

⤷ Firstly, it's an honour to have my name in a book from one of my favorite authors, thank you, Caroline!

⤷ I was lucky enough to read this book last year which was called 'Darken The Night' at the time. I preferred the previous title to the current one even though 'Demon of Mine' connects with the story more!

⤷ Like with all of Caroline Peckham's books, this book was hard to put down. Even though it was an entertaining read there is still a need for improvement. I felt that some of the plot twists were weak and obvious as well as some of the scenes in the book could have also been developed more!

⤷ The romance between Elle and Jack was okay but a better development between the two them would have really improved the book much more!

⤷ I'm excited that each book is based on different characters (I think?), so maybe one of the books will be based on Tyler, which I really hope!

"The devil is real and he's god-damn beautiful."

Even though this book is my lowest rated from this author, I would still recommend it as it was a fun read!

Thank you, Caroline Peckham, for providing a copy of this book for an honest review! :)
