Okay. So I had a lot of issues with this book. First of all, while many people love the way it was written in verse, I didn't like it; it felt like the writing was broken and was trying too hard. Also, while I did find the main character to be believable, the sudden change in personality at the end made no sense to me at all. I understood what the author was trying to do, but in my opinion, it was executed poorly. Also, I was not a fan of the romance, which plays a huge part in this novel. The story dragged on for way too long, and so much of the beginning felt unnecessary.

I understand why so many people love this book, but it didn't work for me.

What I Loved:
-The poetry is brilliant. Her language is beautiful and it captures emotions.
-This entire concept; a poetry book that doubles as a fiction story. WOW. Amazing.
-The broken nature of the main character was relatable and raw.

Who Should Read This One:
-Poetry fans
-YA fans who are looking for something a little different
-People who love a story about a broken main character

Skrátka to mohlo byť skvelé. A začiatok aj bol. Keby autorka z toho nespravila telenovelu (hlavne dva zvraty na konci boli úplne absurdné) a nepridala trápnu insta love, mohlo to byť vážne výborné. A žiaľ, ani k žiadnej postave som si nevedela nájsť žiaden vzťah.
Ale formát som si užila, tak jej skúsim dať ešte šancu, lebo Crank vyzerá tiež dosť dobre, tak hádam to dopadne lepšiem

This book made me feel different kind of things. Helpless for Pattyn, Jackie, their mom, her siblings. Hopeless for Pattyn and Ethan, for Aunt J and his Kevin. But especially anger towards Stephen. Why do people like him exist? But oh well, what can we do? That's life. Some people are pure evil and some people are angels in disguise. We're lucky if we have angels by our side in this life. Because life can be really cruel that it makes people turn out as someone they never imagined, it makes people to refuse in believing in anything especially true love.

Like the other Ellen Hopkins books I've read, this was an interesting, fast read. However, I did not like the story as much as Crank or Glass. This book has a pretty sad and hopeless ending. I do like the writing style of the book - it is the same interesting poetic style of Crank and Glass that is so easy to read and keeps my interest peaked throughout the story.

Wow.....That book was amazing. I couldn't put it down. Not only do I love how Ellen writes, but this story line just pulled me in and wouldn't let me go. I wish the best for Pattyn and I think she deserved the world. The descriptions throughout the book really put me right there watching this story play out. I can't wait to read Smoke and see how this story continues.
