The first 50% was good, hence the three stars and then after that, the story started dragging. Second-chance romance is one of my favorite tropes and i like the fact that for these two, the love was never lost between them. There was times where i got confused because of the writing and how fast the plot was, while certain points were slow. There is no denying the angst of this couple but i’m sorry, i didn’t feel the chemistry between them.

Zora and Nick had lots of sparks. I liked how their backstories were introduced and how they came back together. Most of the book was a 5 star read, but there were a few chapters in the 2nd half of the book that started dragging for me.

Such a refreshing one! Very much needed in my part, for so long it was the same old thing but something about this was different. Also mature, it had Love and Other Words vibes!

This book started out really strong. You have Nick, a boy who had a rough start returning to his home town, after disappearing suddenly several years ago. He left behind the love of his life, promising to come back for her.
You also have the love of his life who is separately trying to secure grants to keep her patient advocacy program going at the university she works for. She needs to make sure her people are taken care of and does not need Nick strolling back into her life. She also has a convent fake relationship with the town deputy/former pain in the ass from HS.
The first 1/2 to 3/4 of the book is well done. There is immediate heat between the H/h even though she is having nothing to do with his plans to win her back. The conflicts are clear, even the one that shows up later. The characters are well written.
My issue is that the book loses steam about 1/2 way through. As they begin to reconnect and work out the past, it just loses its punch. You can see the big blow up coming but I was not tense with dread. I was just meh.
The sudden lack of tension didn’t ruin the story but it did not it down a star for me. I cannot explain exactly what happened, all I can say is it was like a balloon losing air.
I look forward to the next books in the series.

Very mediocre. It was a boring start then it got interesting then it got boring again. The ending was dragging and I just got sick of the characters.

This was a really good, really intense romance. There was a lot going on between the characters, a lot of past between them to overcome or just remember and embrace. I really enjoyed all the banter that Zora and Nick had, with each other, as well as with the other characters in the story. I enjoyed the little connections to the Green Valley world that I love so much. But poor Sheriff Jackson James. Ugh! That boy needs to find his own true love! However we get more of him in this story, and many of the other new stories in this world, and it just makes me like him more and more and want for him.

But Zora and Nick were meant for each other, that’s all there is to it. The two of them had to fight through their doubts and worries, and at times they did the things that irritate me in this type of a story, so that’s part of why this only got 4 instead of 5 stars from me. However this story was so good that one day at lunch, instead of just being done, I had to go get an extra helping of food because I wanted to keep reading! I loved Nick’s dog Sir Duke, I mean how could anyone not adore him! And then, I need to know, is there really a Harry Potter Nimbus 2000 vibrator? LOL!!!

Another great entry into the Green Valley/SmartyPants Romance world. Knowing this is the first in a series, I’m assuming that since it is the last name of the character Zora, that the others in the series will be her siblings? Because I’m ready for their stories as well!

A very well written second chance love story with great characters and interesting ways to find their happily ever after.
It’s a slow burn romance about two lives that even after many years apart can’t get over their love for each other.
I’m always looking forward to going back in the Green Valley and to have read about that Easter egg that I’m so intrigued it’s a big bonus in this book.
Can’t wait to read more books by the author because she goes straight into my favourite list.
