I loved this sister story! There were so many ways it could have ended, and I didn’t predict the final outcome. Loved learning about this period of history in India.

Made the poor assumption this would be a nonfiction book but this exceeded my expectations. A different part of history that I was not fully educated about but viewed through a fictional lens. Post WW 2 but through Southeast Asian eyes. My eyes were opened when it came to learning about India + Pakistan as well as the trials and tribulations of Indians, Hindus & Muslims at that times. Often, people forget that there was a lot going on in the world that didn’t center around Europe and I’m happy that we have books like these that won’t allow us to forget. I think that Priya and Deepa somewhat had more of a focal point in the story but overall, well written and worth exploring.
