I listened to the dramatized audio version of this book. It was kind of short.I like it all the same, all the cast did a great job to do the justice.

Do you remember watching the Walt Disney Film Pinocchio?

Well, the book is quite a lot different than that.

I mean it still has a 'Talking Cricket', the Fox and the Cat, a Huge Dogfish and the "Turning into a Donkey" in it.. But that's where it stops!
Pinocchio is a total rascal.
He gets into mischief, mischief and into more mischief! and one thinks "When will Pinocchio stop? Will this go on forever?".
Quiet frankly I became quite a bit annoyed with him in the beginning but then I felt also for him because of his persistence to see his father again.

At the end (finally!) he manages to look not only after himself but his father Gepetto and his Fairy Tale Mother (with blue hair by the way!).

Overall I liked the story of a wood carved puppet who goes through quite a lot of wacky adventures and misfortunes until he becomes a 'real' boy.

(P.S.: Don't trust Disney films!)

I read this book for the Children's Classics Club for the month of March. It was enjoyable, I love Pinocchio since I was a kid thanks to the Disney movie that made me discover this story. A good book to make kids love going to school, not to tell lies, to listen to their parents and some other important lessons for them.

Pinocchio, the story of a living puppet who wants to be a real boy. A story we all know. Well, a story we think we know. Parts of it anyway. The basic premise, or the gist if you will. Do we know the actual story, the original version? Has Hollywood once again confused us into thinking a film adaptation is the true version if not the only version? Well, perhaps, but that’s another piece for another day. In this piece, the focus is on Carlo Collodi’s 1883 original novel, Pinocchio...
