Tämä olikin erilainen lukukokemus. Kirjassa seurataan syrjässä pidetyn ja kaltoinkohdellun kruununperijän nousua valtaan ja keisarin rooliin kasvamista. Keskiössä on palatsin valtapeli ja labyrinttimainen byrokratia, jolla keisari-instituutiota pidetään yllä. Tavallaan hiljainen, hidas kirja, mutta hahmot olivat kiinnostavia ja sympaattisia ja kerronta soljui vaivattomasti. Viihdyttävä tarina, joskaan ei suositeltava perinteistä seikkailua ja suuria jännitteitä kaipaavalle.

This was an endearing, interesting look at what the real life of a position of power is. And although I think in some ways the fantasy setting was a bit too heavy-handed (I can't remember most of the names or places), the overall story and plot were very well done and Maia is a likeable, sympathetic character.
