What a great (and sad) retelling. I also thoroughly enjoyed the artwork!

Goliath wasn't such a bad guy after all, just maligned by history.

Kinda boring, but I really liked the drawings (no doubt, Tom Gauld is a very talented illustrator), and especially how shadow and light is used. I also liked that the story was told from Goliat’s perspective, when we’re so used to only hear it from David’s, where Goliat is always portrayed as this big strong villain. Now we gain some sympathy for Goliat

A humourous, subversive take on the classic bible story, with simplistic but heartful illustrative style. I would highly recommend this book and Gauld's work in general, such as his comic strip collections.

Seriously, though. This was brilliant. I'm an atheist that likes to read biblical retellings (as long as they aren't hyper-christian). Gauld definitely has a knack for evoking emotion using an incredible simple medium. The art in this illustrated novel is simple and almost childlike, which I think makes Goliath all the more endearing. Poor thing.
