I liked this and read it quickly. Feel like there’s more acceptance of parenthood being challenging in many ways in 2024, but this feels as though it must have been a much less common perspective in 2001.

Really enjoyed the first half (up to extra fox) found it a refreshing, real and raw examination of motherhood. Easy to read and beautiful.
However I found that the narrative style kind of wavered and became much more mundane later on, becoming quite boring and almost administive. It almost felt like reading someone's diary, who only writes about what they do day to day, but not how they feel about it.
This later part had a fatal mix of a lot of descriptive/ flowery language and over repetition of points already discussed that I tend to find difficult to enjoy.
I can really see the benefits of this book, and enjoyed the more realistic portrayal of motherhood, but just found it felt unfinished/ patched together after a really good start.

i'm not a mom so couldn't relate and got bored at times. sounds like her experience sucked at times aka that would be me, miserable. much less literary than i thought it would be considering who she is as an author
