I really liked this book! I have a pretty extensive knowledge of Golden Era Hollywood history and I don’t think that the book would be as enjoyable without it. It was fun identifying which stars, studios, and executives the author was talking about with (sometimes very thinly-veiled) pseudonyms, and I found Laura/Elsa to be a really interesting and sympathetic character on the whole. There were points in Act 2/beginning of Act 3 where I did feel the prose get repetitive. But I read this is basically 24 hours, which speaks to how overall compelling the story was.
Graphic: Suicide and Suicide attempt
Moderate: Mental illness, Alcoholism, and Drug abuse
Minor: Antisemitism
