This is my first venture into Jeeves and Wooster, and this far exceeded my expectations! I don’t really know what I thought they would be like going into this book, but I was so surprised at how great and funny they were!

The whole concept of The Inimitable Jeeves is that Bertie Wooster gets himself into all sorts of scrapes (usually involving his friend Bingo Little), and it falls to his valet Jeeves to extricate him from them.

I’ve read reviews stating this is a satire of the political system and society at the time etc. And yes, to an extent, it is. However, if this isn’t exactly your thing, I would hate for this to put you off such a brilliant book. It is also just a series of short stories revolving around an imbecilic privileged young man, with (dare I say?) more money than sense, being manipulated and played by all those around him, resulting in hilarious consequences.

It is written in a light, enjoyable prose, all from the POV of Bertie Wooster himself, which is really digestible. It also contains a couple of absolutely hilarious phrases and sentences, which are just gold!

I read this with my dad, and I do think this added greatly to my enjoyment, because as I was reading aloud (and on occasions, I must confess to speaking with an unbelievably posh British accent), it made a lot of the jokes more funny? So, if you have a relative or a friend who might be interested, I would recommend that! However, they are just great to read by yourself too.

I would recommend this to fans of The Importance of Being Earnest in particular (I think they share a lot of similarities in their absurdity), and for any fans of comedic literature/short stories :)

An absolute delight! Laugh out loud funny in places. Nobody writes like Wodehouse!

I didn't think there was anything funnier than a P.G. Wodehouse novel, turns out there is, a P.G. Wodehouse short story! This is the first full-length book of our friends Jeeves and Wooster and it is made up of related short stories rather than one long one, most of them involving Bertie's lovesick school chum Bingo. They were all amazing but my favourite is when they go to the countryside and start betting on the length of the local vicar's sermons, it had me in stitches.
